About us

We’d like to introduce ourselves and our company, Cool Pools of the Hill Country. Our names are Derek Wray and Michael Patterson, and we’re proud local owners who share a deep commitment to serving our community with reliable, high-quality pool care.

Between us, we bring over 30 years of experience in the service and facilities industry, as well as a background in leadership, corporate management, and science education. I (Michael) am a U.S. Army veteran with more than a decade of experience leading teams in both corporate America and the classroom, while Derek has spent decades managing and maintaining commercial and residential pools across the Hill Country. Together, we combine technical expertise with a neighborly, hands-on approach.

Our families have made the Hill Country home for many years. Derek and his family have lived here for more than three decades and raised their kids in Boerne, and my own children are active in local sports, community service, and strong academic programs. We both believe that being part of this community means showing up, helping others, and doing the right thing—values that shape how we run our business every day.

Cool Pools offers full-service pool maintenance, repairs, and routine cleaning at competitive rates. We take pride in being trustworthy, local, and transparent, and we also offer a Military, Veteran, and First Responder discount as a small way to give back to those who serve.
